14 March 2023

On March 6, 2023, at 7:30 ET, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Arlekin Players came together for a one-time, multi-media staged reading of "Just Tell No One" at the David Rubenstein Atrium within Lincoln Center. This performance was available to view virtually as it was streamed live.

The staging of "Just Tell No One", directed by Golyak, was an immersive, site-specific production in the Lincoln Center Atrium, utilizing its media wall and five cameras to create visual effects, with actors engaging with various architectural elements throughout the space. Golyak teamed up with Hecht, along with well-known Broadway actors Bill Irwin, David Krumholtz, Tedra Millan, Nathan Malin, and Will Manning, to bring this one-time event to life. The collaboration between Lincoln Center, Arlekin, and this talented cast is aimed at raising awareness and visibility for the amazing work of the Worldwide Ukrainian Play Readings, which is a project of the Center for International Theatre Development (CITD).

"Just Tell No One" is a work created by Golyak that incorporates passages from three plays: "Bad Roads" by Natalya Vorozhbyt (translated by Sasha Dugsdale), "Three Rendezvous" by Natalya Vorozhbyt (translated by John Freedman and Natalia Bratus), and "Just Tell No One" from the play "Night Devours Morning" by Oksana Savchenko (translated by John Freedman). The composition highlights the impact of war on human lives, showcasing a world where strange rules are in place and individuals struggle to understand each other with serious implications for life and death. This location-specific, multimedia performance transports the audience into these stories, using elements of dark humor, personal moments, and vivid images of violence that are so vivid they seem almost unbelievable.
