Les Fugitifs égarés in Paris

Les Fugitifs egares Neda Nezhdana
12 December 2022

In December 2022, Théâtre du Gouvernail (Paris, France) hosted the performance based on the play Les Fugitifs égarés by the Ukrainian playwright Neda Nezhdana. The play was translated into French by Estelle Delavennat in collaboration with Tatiana Sirotchouk and Christophe Feutrier. It was published in the anthology of plays From Chornobyl to Crimea compiled by Dominique Dolmieu.

The play presents a story of a young man who travels to the Chornobyl zone many years after the disaster. His arrival changes a lot in the lives of the residents still living in the zone. This is a small community of men and women with broken destinies and shattered lives. The play follows the model of a tale which helps create a liminal space between dream and nightmare, the lightness of awakening and the depth of sleep. The arrival of a young man acts as a detonator in this sleepy kingdom.
