Premiere stage reading of Ukrainian playwrights

stage readings in Camden Peoples Theatre
8 December 2022

On the 4th of December, the stage reading of the documentary plays Narrating the War by Anastasiia Kosodii and A Marathon of Russian Roulette by Kateryna Penkova was held in Camden People's Theatre (London, UK).

Translated by Helena Kernan, the plays were read in English. After that, an in-person discussion with the playwrights and Ukrainian theatre specialist Molly Flynn took place.

These plays show the world the strength and bravery that Ukrainians demonstrate in the brutal war started by Russia. Due to the genuineness of the stories about Russian atrocities the plays are intended for audiences over 16 years old. The profit from the sale of tickets was transferred to the needs of displaced Ukrainians.

Сo-organizers of the event: Birkbeck Centre for Contemporary Theatre, Ukrainian Institute London and Camden People's Theatre. With support from Birkbeck’s Institute for Gender and Sexuality, Birkbeck’s School of Arts Research Committee Funds, and the OSUN-funded Experimental Humanities Collaborative Network.
