28 March 2023

The Finnish-Ukrainian theatre collaboration, Talo Horjahti, has been honoured with the prestigious TINFO Prize of 2023, which recognizes exceptional achievement in the dissemination of theatre information and communication. The project involved the work of seven talented Ukrainian playwrights, five of whom are co-founders of the renowned Theatre of Playwrights in Kyiv. These individuals include Julia Gonchar, Lena Lyagushonkova, Oksana Savchenko, Luda Tymoshenko, and Andriy Bondarenko, who all played a crucial role in the project's success. Additionally, Oleh Mikhailov and Olha Hrebennik contributed their outstanding playwriting skills to the project.

The TINFO Prize of 2023 specifically commends the project's use of theatre to spread awareness about the ongoing war in Ukraine, an important and timely message. The award ceremony took place at the Thalia Gala Festival, organized by the Central Finnish Theatre Association, held at the Q-teatteri Theatre in Helsinki.

A year prior, John Freedman launched an ambitious project aimed at promoting the work of Ukrainian playwrights worldwide. In Finland, the project was spearheaded by Ellie Salo and was titled "Home Pohitnuvsâ". It is a testament to the remarkable talent and dedication of Ukrainian artists that their work continues to make an impact on the world stage.
