UA Drama Week: New French Platform for Ukrainian Playwriting Launched

2 March 2026

A specialized web resource, UA Drama Week (https://uadramaweek.fr/), dedicated to contemporary Ukrainian drama, has officially launched in France. The platform serves as a strategic extension of the successful theatrical readings and festivals that have been introducing French audiences to the voices of Ukrainian playwrights.

Professional Access to Ukrainian Texts

The website was created by the association "Lire le théâtre ukrainien" with the support of the Ukrainian Institute. The primary goal of the project is to provide French directors, actors, and theatre managers with high-quality translations of plays, detailed biographies of playwrights, and the cultural context of their work.

The resource already features texts by prominent Ukrainian authors, including Natalka Vorozhbit, Pavlo Arie, Oksana Savchenko, and other leading figures of the modern scene. In addition to the scripts, the site hosts a media archive of readings held at renowned French venues, such as the Cité internationale des arts.

A Cultural Bridge Between Ukraine and France

Through UA Drama Week, Ukrainian plays are moving beyond one-off events to become a permanent part of the French theatrical repertoire. This allows the French professional community to engage with events in Ukraine not just through news reports, but through the honest and profound lens of theatrical storytelling.
