A story of a weird family residing within the 30 km Chernobyl Exclusion Zone: a deserted village by the river Pripyat, a small farm, a dead end, nowhere to run, just forests and swamps all around...
Grandma Prisya, her daughter Slava and grandson Vovchyk just want to live, yet all they are doing now is fighting for survival. It is not the radiation they have to fight, for Grandma knows how to negotiate with the nature, the mavkas and other “inhabitants” of the forest (or her imagination). The family has to protect its small world from the big society: the local cop who won’t give up trying to have them evicted, or the “hunters” who shoot game for fun. And there is no help coming. There shall be no humans inside the
exclusion zone – they are outlaws, therefore they do not exist.
