Anna Halas

I hold a degree in Translation from Lviv National University (Ukraine).  After graduation, I studied modern drama at Oxford University (UK) as part of my PhD program, which focuses on theatre translation. Currently, I am a practicing theatre translator and a researcher. As a translator, I work with many theatres in Ukraine. I worked with the text with such prominent playwrights as Harold Pinter, Edward Albee, Eugene O’Neill, William Gibson, etc. In 2020, my translation of “Dangerous Liaisons” by Christopher Hampton became a laureate of “Eurodram”, a European network for drama in translation. Recently, I have also started translating modern Ukrainian drama into English. I coordinate “Theatre Translation Laboratory”, which is a joint project of NGO “Education Laboratory” and Translation Department of Ivan Franko University (Lviv, Ukraine).
