Let’s call them by name: Moldova supports Ukrainian cultural resistance

In September 2022, Alexei Mateevici Theatre, Chișinău, Republic of Moldova initiated a project “Let’s call them by name” in support of Ukrainian dramaturgy. The initiative was aimed at expressing solidarity with the Ukrainian people and with artists from Ukraine, who are suffering from the appalling tragedy. 

Six monologues written by Ukrainian playwrights were brought to life by six actors in six months following the start of the war. Monologues bear witness to a nation confronted with one of the greatest challenges in its history. 

The performance based on the texts by Liudmyla Tymoshenko, Natalia Blok, Oksana Savchenko, Iryna Harets, Tetiana Kițsenko and Andrii Bondarenko is a manifesto against the war. It is directed by Luminița Țâcu and designed by Irina Gurin.
