Mauvaises routes

Orignal title: Погані дороги, 2017Translator: Iryna Dmytrychyn, Français

One of the most prominent Ukrainian plays of the last decade. The work consists of six independent scenes that observe Ukrainians and a Russian or two involved directly or indirectly in the battles against Russian-backed separatists in the Donbas region. Decidedly unheroic, often uncouth, and paradoxical in all ways, these scenes illustrate war as hell, war as destroyer of personality, war as a place of no moral bounds. The film made of this play by Vorozhbyt herself was the Ukrainian nomination for the Oscar in 2022.
